Meet Team 77 Daffodil Racing - Gordon Rendell & Daniel Pone-Pinette
Gordon Rendell is from Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL, and Daniel Pone-Pinette is from Sheshatshiu, NL. They first raced Cain's Quest in 2023 - while nobody could finish the race due to unfavorable weather conditions these guys still managed to take home the Jacques Descenes award for the most sportsman-like team ( This is voted on by participating teams).
A message from Team 77 - Daniel and I are anxious to see the snow. After the unfortunate act by Mother Nature in March of 2023, we are going to forgive her and continue to be excited for March of 2024. We had 3 goals for the 2023 race and they were to finish the race, offer assistance to any team we came upon and to be competitive. It was a great learning experience to witness what we didn’t get to witness while supporting race teams in the past. A couple mistakes were made and we also learned quite a bit from the first experience of racing ourselves. We would like to take that and do better again. I said, I would do this race once...maybe twice. Now, maybe more than twice. Ha. Let’s see how we feel after 2024. We have confidence we can be competitive.
We were so proud and thankful to have been the 2023 recipient of the Jacques Descenes sportsmanship award. We weren’t aware there was this reward before that. It was very cool to be acknowledged for helping other racers when that was our intention anyhow.
